Went to the North Shore Enterprise Awards Gala on Friday night with the Brolly Sheets team. It was a glamourous affair and as fate would have it we won the award for the Best Emerging Business.

Tony Ogle – New Trails Exhibition

From the 20th of May to the 22nd of June, a Flagstaff favourite – Tony Ogle, will be exhibiting his new original art in the “New Trails” exhibit. If you would like to come along and see the exhibition and meet Tony on opening night (20 May) then please let me know here.

I remember talking to someone on Twitter about this last year – Full Code Press. It’s a competition to build a complete website in 24 hours competition and it looked like so much fun!

This year they are doing it slightly different from what I remember, country vs country and I must say the USA Team look formidable. Can’t wait to see who is on the NZ Team.

It takes place in Wellington on the 19th and 20th of June 2010 and all sites built are for not for profit companies.

Brolly Sheets UK site launched!

I have been doing some work for a NZ company called Brolly Sheets who has recently launched their UK site. Brolly Sheets are 100% cotton top mattress protectors. They are waterproof, yet breathable and they are not made out of vinyl or PVC so they don’t rustle when you move. They can also be tumble dried.

Victoria Park Collective voucher book

Well it’s been a busy month and one of the projects I have worked on is the Victoria Park Collective voucher book. Just about to sign off on the artwork for it to go to print and it’s been an amazing feeling seeing it all come together.

It’s looking really good and we already have 5,000 of them going out to local businesses who have shown an interest in receiving them.
Just the website to go now! It’s going to be a little different from the business association ones and allow members to add their own content. Last changes and directory listings going up in the weekend, so stay tuned.

Conversion Tracking for Google Adwords

Over the last year there has been a dramatic increase in companies doing telemarketing to businesses to sell in Google Adwords. When I have come across customers who have been contacted and taken up the offer no conversion tracking has ever been set in place or even discussed.

How can you then know if the Google Ads are working?

The answer is that you can’t if there is no tracking in place. In my mind this is a media ad agency mindset of billing the customer for an ad with no regard for whether the ad is converting visitors into sales. It means that you as the customer are blind to the effectiveness of the campaign and you are most probably paying for words and ad copy that may not be the most effective for your campaign.

By making sure there is conversion tracking in place you can tweak keywords, try different ad copy and gauge your return on investment.

The key thing you need to have though is a way for your business to measure conversions and I will post about that soon as I am putting together a presentation for the Victoria Park Collective.

Moral of the Story?

So the moral of the story is always ask for conversion tracking to be in place before the ads start to run and if you need some help or advice, let me know.

The Auckland Spring Gift Fair is coming up! If you haven’t been before then register online as registering on the day is time consuming and risky as you need to bring 2 forms of business ID with you.
